Working at Huffmaster Therapy Co.

If you are looking for a practice to call home, where you feel supported, nurtured, and truly cared about, I welcome you to learn more about our practice. Creating a space for authentic collaboration, guided case consultations and continued clinical support is at the core of why the collective was created. Our goal is to bring clinicians together who are interested in learning more about how to deepen their practice with clients by offering emotionally, relationally reflective consultation and supervision. The practice values and clinical guidance is rooted in relational and psychodynamic perspectives and training.

What is relational and psychodynamic psychotherapy?

Relationship and psychodynamic psychotherapy focuses on exploring how unconscious processes, early life experiences and relationships, unresolved conflicts, and trauma shape current behavior and emotions. The therapeutic relationship itself plays a central role, serving as a mirror for understanding patterns of attachment, defense mechanisms, and relational dynamics. By reflecting on these dynamics in the context of the therapy, clients can gain insight into how they relate to others and make more adaptive changes in their lives. The goal is to help clients achieve greater self-awareness, emotional regulation, and healthier interpersonal relationships.

I believe that to do meaningful work with clients, we must first create supportive, nurturing environments within our own practices.

What it’s like to work at Huffmaster

How will you grow?

Maybe you have a good foundation in a modality like CBT, DBT, or EMDR, but you are looking for more…

The psychodynamic, relational approach pairs well with most other therapeutic modalities, and can be used to deepen the work and relationship between you and your client. It often means helping a client move closer to difficult feelings, thoughts, and experiences. While behavioral modalities are helpful for skill building, emotional and relational therapy can bring the client (and you) closer to themselves. I believe our clients often benefit from more connectedness, as scary as it may be. Methods like CBT pair well along side a deeper, insight-oriented relational approach to talk therapy, and thats what we can help you develop and bring to your clinical practice.

Through consultation, supervision & training experiences at Huffmaster Therapy Co., you will learn more about the importance of what is referred to as the frame of the treatment. The frame of clinical treatment refers to the consistent, structured boundaries and conditions—such as the setting, schedule, and therapeutic norms—that provide a safe, reliable environment for the therapeutic work to unfold. I believe that in order to do deeper work with clients, we have to get to know ourselves well, and develop the skills to set up a consistent and safe treatment environment that works well for us (the clinician).

Some things you can expect to learn:

How to hold effective initial consultations and screening calls with potential clients; when and how to make treatment recommendations you feel confident in like visit frequency, length of treatment expectations, when/how to involve parents/family, and when/how to make a formal referral out; how to effectively and thoughtfully collaborate with other care providers like psychiatrists; how to develop and deepen the therapeutic alliance; how to increase retention rates; what is transference and countertransference and how can it be used; the value of doing your own work, in your own treatment.

We can provide customized insight and support for each case via supervision and/or case consultation, as one size never fits all.

We strive to help every clinician grow into feeling more comfortable, confident, and connected in their clinical work.

You’re worth the investment.
