Helping you tell your story, embrace what feels fragile and live a vibrant,
meaningful life.

Welcome! I collaborate with patients to provide a safe space they can begin to explore themselves, perhaps for the first time. Many folks I work with have struggled with depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress and/or relationship difficulties for a long time. I help people work through difficult patterns, traumatic experiences, inner conflicts, and relationship issues by partnering with individuals on a journey to self-discovery through our therapeutic relationship.

My work with clients is greatly informed and inspired by my own experience in an intensive psychoanalytic treatment. I know how vulnerable it feels to ask for help and open yourself up to another person. I also know how painfully beautiful and generative the work within a therapeutic relationship can be.

I am continually honored and humbled by the work I am privileged to witness and be a part of. I’ve worked with many folks for years; I am invested in creating a long-term psychotherapeutic experience with people looking to grow and make lasting, permanent changes in their lives.

  • I work primarily with adults who are interested and motivated to learn more about themselves and grow into their full potential. Clients I work well with tend to be looking for more in depth, insight-oriented psychotherapy. I prefer to see people at a high frequency and for a longer period of time to provide lasting, permanent change.

  • I graduated in 2017 with my Masters in Social Work from Wayne State University. I’ve been providing psychodynamic psychotherapy for over 7 years. I earned my certificate in Advanced Psychodynamic Psychotherapy from the Michigan Psychoanalytic Institute (MPI) in 2022, and completed a third year of special offerings. I have been in my own analytic treatment for over 7 years, beginning my formal analytic training analysis in 2023. I plan to apply for analytic candidacy in the near future. If you have any questions about what this means and how it pertains to you, please don’t hesitate to ask.

Inspiration and goals for Huffmaster Therapy Collective

I founded Huffmaster Therapy Collective in 2022. I have been and will continue to be very involved with the clinical care delivered by each of our clinicians. My impact includes providing and facilitating regular supervision, consultation and training. I am not only dedicated to serving the clients of HTC but also value creating a positive, rewarding and financially sustainable growing environment for our therapists.

I believe that therapists do their best work and provide the most effective treatment when they themselves feel valued, supported, and nurtured.

Values Statement

All are welcome here

I, Alex, am committed to helping folks explore in an open, safe and nonjudgemental way their own experiences, identities and roles in a greater socio-cultural-environmental context. My work is informed by the notion that all of us are impacted by and play multiple roles as survivors, beneficiaries and contributors to social and environmental problems and solutions. Often, many aspects of our identities and our psychological presentations are tied up in our socio-cultural roles and experiences. Cultural, religious and gendered violence, sexism, racism, homophobia and transphobia, and the lasting impacts of colonization, white supremacy and patriarchy are some of the major topics I am committed to unpacking for myself and with you, if and when it comes up for you and in our work together.
