I primarily utilize the Person-Centered Approach treatment method, which emphasizes the therapeutic relationship as a crucial factor in helping clients achieve personal growth and self-acceptance. The main goals in Person-Centered Therapy, are to improve self-understanding, personal growth, self-esteem, and relationships. My approach is collaborative, which means we will work together to set goals, explore challenges, and develop strategies for change. I believe the strength and connection of the therapeutic relationship is crucial, as it provides a safe space to explore thoughts, feelings, and experiences without fear or judgment. I draw from a variety of modalities and trainings which allows me to work uniquely with each client.

Experience
I am a Michigan native, receiving my BSW from Grand Valley State University, and MSW from Michigan State University. I have 5 years of experience working in the field. My background includes working in community mental health, partial hospitalization, and home-based services before I shifted my career providing outpatient psychotherapy. I hold specialized continuing education credits with DBT, trauma focused CBT, and I have my training certificate in EMDR.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, (CBT), is a type of psychotherapy that aims to address and change unhelpful patterns of thinking and behavior. I heavily utilize cognitive challenging/reframing/refocusing to challenge negatively biased thought patterns, marked features in anxiety and depression.
Through utilizing Dialectical Behavior Therapy, (DBT), clients are encouraged to accept themselves and their current circumstances while working towards change and growth. I employ the four core concepts of DBT, (mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness), to improve emotional dysregulation and interpersonal relationships.
Life coaching and self-esteem are two of my few specialities. Although there are many principles and techniques found in motivational interviewing, I like to hone in on collaborative partnership, self-efficacy, and change talk, (readiness and willingness to consider change).
Positive psychology is a traditional approach that focuses on strengths, well-being, and optimal functioning. While other treatment modalities may focus on pathology and dysfunction, positive psychology promotes various factors that contribute to optimal functioning. I am to help you achieve a fulfilling and meaningful life.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a therapeutic technique primarily used to help individuals who have experienced trauma or distressing life events. WIth EMDR, we will access and process those memories on a deeper level using bilateral stimulation movements.
